Features of sliding awnings
Sliding awnings with an aluminum structure are designed to protect terraces and gardens from the sun and rain. It is a type of awning with which large spaces of up to 7.00 m. x 7.00 m. can be covered in a single module, or much larger areas with added modular sections.
The product consists of a structure that supports open-section guides at the bottom and along which the sliding awning slides through rollers with internal bearings of different heights with the function of giving the awning a slope to evacuate rainwater laterally.
The awning canvas is made with individual sheaths supported by double-macarron aluminum crossbars (sticks), to make its replacement easier in the case of changing the canvas or repairing it.
The structure and guides can have different sizes depending on the width and output of the awning.
In small sizes, a structure and guides of 80 x 40 mm or 90 x 96 mm are usually used and in large sizes a structure of 120 x 120 mm is used.
The colors of the aluminum can be with the following rales:
White, textured black, textured bronze, textured gray 7016, textured silver, gray 7022, gray 7016, gray 7011, and brown 8014.
The aluminum is extruded with direct press and finished with the powder coating system, hardened at high temperatures of the Qualicoat brand with a QC-0706 guarantee certificate.
All fasteners and pins are made of stainless steel, to guarantee maximum durability and mechanical resistance over the years.
The most common fabrics for making sliding awnings are the Solar-Pro acrylic canvas, technical fabrics or PVC with internal reinforcement mesh.
The Solar Pro canvas and PVC are waterproof fabrics. The canvas has a water resistance of 300 b/p. This means that if we adapt double or triple height displacement rollers to the sliding awning, we achieve that the water goes laterally and does not cause internal losses through the fabric.
For cases of canvases in which you want to use it exclusively for rain, there is a waterproof canvas with a capacity of 1000 b/p. 1 bar = 10.2 m.c.a (meters of water column)
The opening and closing system is done through a central rope circuit and pulleys that make the awning open and close very easily.
The system also allows you to put a motor on it, with an internal transmission belt system on the guide.
All pergolas with sliding awnings can be complemented with vertical closing awnings, made with the full range of fabrics that the market offers us for these systems.
The installation of this type of awning can be done between walls, where there are only two awning support guides, with a front goal when the structure is attached to a wall, or with a double goal when the structure is individual in the center of a terrace or garden, for example.
When it is a double goal, perimeter profiles are always placed at all times to guarantee maximum stability of the structure.
Regarding the number of guides in a single module, always from 5.00 meters a third central guide is placed to guarantee that the crossbars support the weight of the water well.
Regarding the tension of the canvas, it is always more advisable that it remains taut once stretched, since this way in case of wind, it has less impact.
It is an awning that withstands adverse atmospheric factors very well since its structure and travel sticks give it a lot of stability when it is open.
In the collection space, protective flaps are placed for when the canvas is closed and thus prevent the accumulation of water and humidity inside.
